Louis Plamondon (born July 31, 1943) is a politician in the Canadian province of Quebec, and a member of the House of Commons of Canada. Plamondon has represented Bas-Richelieu—Nicolet—Bécancour (formerly known as Richelieu) in the Canadian House of Commons since 1984. Originally elected as a Progressive Conservative, Plamondon was a founding member of the Bloc Québécois in 1990 and has been re-elected under its banner in every election since then. Plamondon is the Dean of the House, the longest-serving current member of the House of Commons. ==Early life and career== Plamondon was born in Saint-Raymond-de-Portneuf, Quebec and is the brother of lyricist Luc Plamondon.〔Elizabeth Thompson, "Passion and Tears: Jean Sworn In," ''Montreal Gazette'', 28 September 2005, A1.〕 He has a teaching certificate from L'École normale Maurice L.
